Martinez, California – A 33-year-old Pinole man has been arrested and charged with a two-count felony complaint related to the possession of child pornography.

Jeffrey Tadashi Oda has served for several years as a golf coach at Pinole Valley High School and as a youth golf coach at the Richmond Golf Course. On August 27, 2024, investigators from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force served a warrant at Oda’s house in Pinole and collected numerous electronic items.

Forensics examiners located images and videos of child pornography on his Apple iPhone. On September 5th, The Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office filed a complaint with the court charging Oda with possession of child or youth pornography [PC 311.11(a)] and a related charge of possession of over 600 images of child or youth pornography [PC 311.11(c)(1)].

He made a voluntary court appearance on September 19th, entering a plea of not guilty and posting bail for $100,000. Oda’s next court appearance is scheduled on October 23, 2024, at 1:30 pm in front of the Honorable Christopher Bowen in Martinez.

The Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office is asking the public to contact the ICAC Senior Inspector with information that could assist the investigation into the charged offenses — and any additional ones.

The case is being prosecuted by the Sexual Assault Unit for the District Attorney’s Office and was investigated by the Contra Costa County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The Task Force includes detectives and investigators from the police departments of Walnut Creek, Concord, Pleasant Hill, Brentwood, Pittsburg, San Ramon, Danville, Oakley, and Moraga, as well as the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Secret Service, Homeland Security Investigations, and Inspectors from the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office.
