From Danville PD:
On Monday, August 12, at approximately 3:28 p.m., the Danville Police Department was alerted through an Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) system to a Honda associated with retail theft in Danville. Officers found the vehicle on Diablo Road heading toward I-680 and identified the driver as Deonte Bell, 23, of Sacramento, who had an outstanding arrest warrant for a previous theft from BevMo in Danville.
A Danville officer attempted a traffic stop on I-680 near Diablo Road, but Bell failed to yield. Bell took the Sycamore Valley Road off-ramp before driving the wrong way onto the freeway. For safety reasons, officers did not pursue the vehicle as Bell drove the wrong way on I-680.
A second officer traveling south on I-680 was sideswiped by Bell’s Honda as Bell travelled north on southbound I-680. The Honda and the patrol car were disabled. Bell fled on foot and the passenger, Cherridy Colter, 25, of Sacramento, was detained at the scene of the collision.
Bell was later apprehended near El Rincon Road and La Questa Drive in Danville.
Deonte Bell was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility for burglary, theft, conspiracy, felony evading, hit and run, and resisting arrest. Cherridy Colter was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility for burglary, theft, conspiracy, and a parole violation. Bell suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision.
Additional details are not available at this time. If member(s) of the community have information to share regarding the incident, they may contact Lt. Heather Transue at the Danville Police Department, or call 925-314-3702.
Good work!
That got our attention!
Sure did!!!
I bet Deonte Bell is already out of custody.

He’s out, spreading joy, making his friends laugh and probably being a good father.

We’re showing him as in custody, West County, held on $175,000.00 bail.
Thank you for that update.
You bet!
Just checked, I see out.

We were on Sycamore when made the turn onto the off-ramp and we closed our ears thinking there’d be a crash. Glad no serious injuries resulted.
What? Criminals are commuting from Sacramento to do crimes in our area now?
They apparently know that the Contra Costa and Alameda County DA’s are very kind to criminals. Thank you voters, for putting them in office. Thank you, sincerely, Danville Police for your wonderful work!
“Thank you voters, for putting them in office.” That sounds like bitter sarcasm, Greg T.
So, we the people, are the doofuses, and you are the smart one?? I mean, that is your perspective in a nutshell. Is it not? YOU, the outlier, are the smart one. Congratulations! And, God bless.
“What? Criminals are commuting from Sacramento to do crimes in our area now?” Commute? Criminals don’t have regular hours or regular jobs. They seek crimes of opportunity. They don’t work 9 – 5, but I get your meaning. We, the voting doofuses, are weak and STUPID, unlike you Greg T.
“They apparently know that the Contra Costa and Alameda County DA’s are very kind to criminals.”
Wow, prosecutors who are “kind to criminals”. That’s shocking and NOT true. Speaking ironically, I guess ignorance is how they got elected by a majority of the doofuses who voted because we/they are not smart like you.
Dude, recognize the possibility that you can be in the minority, and recognize that you can totally bamboozled, flimflammed, and conned by what disinformation you CHOOSE to ingest.
Good job, now keep him locked đź”’up
Not enough stuff to steal In Sacramento?
Lock him up…..
Is this part of those highly mobile crime groups you’ve written about or something else?
Apparently he hails from Sacramento but has visited our area before. We know folks are driving more to areas they feel may be easier hits but it would take more work to determine if he’s running or has run with a crew. But we are seeing more folks from out of the area showing up and committing crimes lately.
What was happening at Bonanza and Nor California? So many police!!!
Oddly, or perhaps not so in relation to the Danville incident, PD stopped a carload of people after a theft from Target. We think there turned out to be more people in the car than they bargained for so they called for reinforcements.

How about a charge of “attempted murder” for intentionally driving the wrong way on the freeway?
When was that ever successfully prosecuted?
“Deonte Bell was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility for burglary, theft, conspiracy, felony evading, hit and run, and resisting arrest.” How ’bout we stick with the bread and butter of crime and punishment.
The problem with a charge like is that you have to prove that the defendant wanted to kill someone, but failed. Could he have killed someone doing what he did? Sure. But proving he had the intent to kill is a tough one. The Evading, hit and run and resisting are charges that can actually stick, along with the theft-related charges. If Prop 47 is repealed, that would be a good start towards being able to prosecute theft crimes again.
I gotta ask…what is Firestone 11R?
That is the callsign/handle for the Jeff guy when he was a cop in SoCal. Now he’s just a retired cop that thinks he’s still a tuff guy with a badge.
Straight outa Compton….. 7901 S. Compton Ave.

It’s about bygone times and male ego. For reference material, see Uncle Rico, Napoleon Dynamite.
I, myself, used to chuck the ol’ pigskin pretty good. LOL
Still bad enough for anything that happens in CoCo.
