Most of our local police agencies have been hard at work lately rounding up alleged thieves and burglars as they ply their trade in private homes and public businesses.
We may hear more about these actions in the coming days (we may not) but some of them are playing out in front of our cameras and we’ll mention them when we can because people seem interested.
Several youthful shelf-raiders were detained in Walnut Creek after a brisk but thorough Flash Raid at a downtown cosmetics store Friday, and other crime-fighting successes have been noted.
Walnut Creek police also recently announced their arrest of one alleged transgressor, hooking up 34-year-old Joshua Spaincue of Antioch on residential and commercial burglary charges.
Police said they responded to a report of a suspicious person entering a neighbor’s backyard in the 1100 block of Flowerwood Place around 11 a.m. on July 30 and found Spaincue inside the residence.
The Antioch man was taken into custody and booked at the Martinez Detention Facility on burglary charges.
Detectives presented the case to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office, which filed two counts of burglary against Spaincue. His bail is $250,000, and he remains in custody, according to police.
Good work Walnut Creek PD! I know it’s a hard battle.. usually undone by the district attorney and judges. Although encouraging – if it’s sincere- is Gavin Newsom’s sudden interest crack down on crime. Very interesting .. since he let 20,000 people out of prison, but now I think it’s coming back to haunt him and he’s trying to save his political image in the eyes of voters.
Sephora? Ulta?
Nice work. Now another task force on the back end at the swap meets would be great.
I think we all should pack and be able to take them out. we need the law’s to be changed. we should be able to protect ourselves on the spot. as long as your protecting yourself or others and not be treated like a criminal.
Excellent work by WCPD.
