Nomination Period For Danville Town Council Election Opens July 15

Three Town Council seats to be decided in municipal election.

DANVILLE, Calif. (July 11, 2024): The Town of Danville will open the candidate nomination period Monday, July 15 for three open positions on the Town Council. Residents interested in running for the Town Council in the November 5 General Municipal Election may take out nomination papers from July 15 to August 9. In the event that an incumbent fails to file nomination papers, the filing period is extended to August 14 for non-incumbents only. Terms are for four years.

To be eligible to run for Town Council, candidates must be 18 years of age or older, reside within the Town of Danville incorporated boundaries and be a registered voter at the time nomination papers are issued. Interested residents must make an appointment with the City Clerk to receive and submit campaign documents during the Nomination Period. The papers must be completed and filed with the City Clerk before the end of the nomination period.

Election-specific documents are not available to candidates prior to July 15. However, interested candidates are encouraged to make an appointment early, and become familiar with campaign requirements and related forms. Information can be found on the Town website.
