Lafayette police and other agencies joined in the pursuit of a reportedly stolen car down Pleasant Hill Road and onto Highway 24 – where it was believed rammed during a police PIT maneuver (precision immobilization technique) and brought to a stop.
Three people were believed to have fled from the vehicle and into the surrounding neighborhoods as additional officers and a sheriff’s helicopter arrived to assist with their capture.
Nervous neighbors locked their doors as police used their public address systems to call for the suspects to surrender. Two people, a man and a woman, were eventually located and taken into custody without incident. It was believed the third individual was still outstanding.
Police eventually broke down their perimeter at approximately 10:20p.m.
