Suspect In Crimes Against Children Case Attempts Suicide Tuesday

UPDATE: The Sheriff’s Office has initiated its Officer Involved Protocol after the subject in this case, identified as Jaime Rodriguez, 50, of Fairfield was declared deceased at a local hospital following the incident.

ORIGINAL STORY:
A 50-year-old Fairfield man arrested in Danville for attempting to contact a minor boy for sex attempted to hang himself while being transported to the Martinez Detention Facility Tuesday.

The incident occurred at 10:33 a.m. after a man arrested by Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force officers made the attempt during his transport to jail.

A sheriff’s office spokesman said Investigators went to the Danville home to arrest the suspect for soliciting a detective posing online as a 13-year-old boy for sex. The suspect was arrested for arranging a meeting with a minor for lewd purposes (PC 288.4(b)), contacting a minor to commit a felony (PC 288.3(a)), attempted lewd acts on a child (PC 664/288(a)), attempted sending harmful material to seduce a minor (PC 664/288.2(a)(1), and resisting arrest (PC 148).

Medical aid was rendered, according to the Office of the Sheriff, and the suspect was transported to a local hospital.

His name was not provided.

    • What is wrong with you? A lot of these “children” you mention are young adults who are out preying on people. Committing felonies.

      • Really Daniel?? They were 13-14 years old and there were no felonies being committed. If they were white you would call them ā€œbabies.ā€ So strange that people in this community have more hatred for black teenagers being teenagers than literal pedophiles. Itā€™s sick.
