BART police stopped two men at gunpoint at the Walnut Creek BART station following a theft from the nearby Target store Sunday.
Officers alerted to a shoplifting incident in which a Taser was allegedly used or brandished at the store found the men believed responsible and took them into custody at gunpoint.
Target has already closed 3 SF stores due to rampant shoplifting https://www.cbsnews.com/sanfrancisco/news/target-stores-closing-retail-theft-san-francisco-oakland-pittsburg-new-york-portland-seattle/
Is Walnut Creek next? Ask your state Assemblyperson and Senator to repeal Prop. 47 now.
Lawmakers cannot repeal Prop 47. It was passed directly by the voters.
The voters were tricked into voting for it. Then Attorney General of California Kamala Harris named proposition 47 the ‘Safe Neighborhood & Schools Act’..who wouldn’t be for that? So voters were devievef into voting for this proposition.
They can’t? https://contracosta.news/2023/02/01/alanis-bill-would-repeal-california-proposition-47/
“The Legislature may amend or repeal an initiative statute by another statute that becomes effective only when approved by the electors unless the initiative statute permits amendment or repeal without voter approval. (Cal. Const. Art. II, §10(c))”
I found this citation under CA Dept of Finance…I suspect it is accurate.
In any case, politicians propose stuff all the time that they know plays well with their base and has no actual chance of passage in their current term of office.
I suspect your interpretation of your cut and paste is not accurate.
Ok, bring the contradictory evidence Roberto. I’m open to it. I’m certainly no lawyer nor politician, but I must point out that a legislative proposal without much support is just a wish on your part. The voters decided. Show us the language that allows the legislature to repeal a constitutional amendment made by the voters. I’m just spitballing. If I’m wrong, fine, show us.
They should keep their theft in SF and Oakland. Police don’t care. In Walnut Creek they have real police.
Except BART PD collared these perps, NOT WCPD.
Oops.
This is the second time in a week that our local police have arrested thieves. Good for them. I hope our WC Target will take these thefts seriously and find effective counter measures.
