A fast-moving fire consumed a home in the 200 block of Redwood Highway in Canyon on Wednesday night, the owners away from the residence at the time of the blaze.
The blaze was reported at 10:25 p.m. with neighbors in Canyon and Moraga reporting the smell of smoke and then spotting flames from the residence.
Apparatus from Moraga-Orinda Fire and surrounding districts responded to the call for assistance, mindful of power lines down in the area and restricted access to the scene of the blaze.
In the end the home and approximately two acres of vegetation was consumed by fire with firefighters moving to keep flames from spreading to other homes.
There were no initial reports of injuries but the scene was still an active one as of 11:28 p.m.
The cause of the blaze has yet to be determined.
