Two people, a man and woman wanted in connection with a homicide, surrendered to police in Concord Wednesday after a lengthy standoff in the 2600 block of Mayfair Avenue.

Callers reported the sheriff’s STARR helicopter buzzing low over the area at around 3:30 p.m. with heavily armed police in the area and concentrating on a specific home.

Police were reportedly able to establish communication with the suspects and eventually convinced them to surrender at about 6:38 p.m.

The pair, reportedly both armed, surrendered without further incident.

    • Crime keeps happening in counties where the district attorneys refuse to prosecute ie enforce the laws.

    • Why do you think that poor economic conditions are correlated with rising crime or that “the economy is down” right now?

Nationwide crime rates plunged to generational lows during the Great Recession (2007-09) and continued falling the malaise that persisted into the mid-2010s.

Further, unemployment remains near generational lows and inflation metrics have been moderating since price pressures peaked last year. Yet nationwide crime rates have rebounded towards the late the 20th century peaks.
