Photographers – the good ones, anyway – see things differently than the rest of us.

They may be blessed with unusually good vision, a slightly more developed insight, perhaps an off-kilter view of the world – but things jump out at the good ones the rest of us have to strain to see.

Sean McDonough, known around our newsroom as The Lensman, happens to possess that skill set. When he’s not shooting breaking news, battling boxers, or mass protests he’s looking for the little things the rest of us simply walk by – like this recycling bin.
