A robbery at a downtown Lafayette Chevron station sparked a circuitous pursuit, crash, brief foot pursuit and eventually ended in the capture of a suspect on Howard Hills Road.
The incident was reported at approximately 12:30 p.m. with a suspect holding up a person at the station and fleeing west on Mt. Diablo Boulevard in a black Dodge Caliber hatchback. Lafayette police, alerted to the theft, fell in behind the vehicle as it passed the Lafayette Reservoir and initiated a pursuit when the driver attempted to flee.
The suspect allegedly brandished a knife during commission of the robbery.
The subsequent vehicle chase ended up heading in both the westbound and eastbound directions of Mt. Diablo while the driver apparently sought an escape route, eventually turning onto Pine Lane from El Nido Ranch Road before crashing at Pine and Howard Hills Road.
The male suspect, subsequently identified as Kevin Chico, 36, of Denver, Colo., allegedly fled from the crash site on foot but was taken into custody a short distance away, reporting a leg injury he suffered in the crash.
Just another day in Dodge City. Be cautious my fellow citizens.

Now. is there going to be any consequences for this guy? Or is he already running around tonight ready to strike? I think we’ve lost our minds in tolerating this crap! Who reading this is going to be the next victim? Jail them! And I don’t want to hear about overcrowding, pack them in like sardines!
I can’t take the excitement. I’m having palpitations.
How very un semi-rural.
