An “active shooter” training drill will take place at Lafayette Elementary School on the mornings of Tuesday, August 1 and Wednesday, August 2.
This is only a drill; there is no threat to the community or to the school.
While no live ammunition will be used, there will be loud blanks fired, and officers will be dressed in tactical gear.
Police and school officials ask that residents please stay away from the campus on these days so that the officers can conduct their training without disruption. Please also spread the word to friends and neighbors in order to avoid alarm or surprise.
