A lone motorist was killed when their Toyota crashed into a tree at 11345 Pleasanton-Sunol Road near CalFire Sunol Station 41 in Sunol Friday night.
The crash was reported at 9:20 pm when passersby spotted the vehicle and reported the driver unconscious behind the wheel. Emergency personnel arrived at the crash site and determined that the driver was deceased.
Coroner’s officials identified the driver as Justin Hayman, 47, of Hayward.
Investigators determined that Hayman was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
