A Tharp Drive home was damaged after fire broke out at the residence shortly after noon Thursday.
Neighbors reported flames coming from the residence in the 400 block of Tharp at approximately 12:14 p.m. Several Moraga-Orinda Fire Protecting District apparatus and crews responded, quickly bringing the blaze under control.
The elderly resident of the home was initially hesitant to leave it, with MPD Officer Jeffrey Yanga and neighbors eventually convincing him it was time to go.
No cause or damage estimate provided.
Lots of sirens.
What was that parade of police vehicles with lights and sirens that headed that direction at about the same time? They went by so fast I couldn’t see markings.
MPD free and invited to answer up as usual but we’ll just say that police officers often respond ahead of the big red trucks to assist with critical medical incidents or, as in this case, evacuations.
Whoa. Glad he’s ok?!
Let us know if he needs anything.
