A Danville neighborhood was cut off and homes evacuated as police attempted to talk a man suspected of an attack on a family member out of his residence.

Details of the alleged attack, reportedly with a knife, remained murky as the suspect retreated into the family home on Glasgow Drive and resisted efforts by police to talk him out. The incident was reported at approximately 11:20 a.m. with fire and police vehicles moving into the neighborhood and traffic re-routed.

At one point police used an acoustic hailing device in an effort to relay commands and dislodge the suspect, still underway as this is written at 3 p.m. He was taken into custody without further incident a short time later.

Police eventually arrested Diego Alfaro, 27, on several charges stemming from the incident.

Gulp. We’ve dispatched the intern to clear up those old parking tickets.

Remember, if you cross paths with a reporter/photographer trying to do their job out there – cut ’em some slack.

I’d take hostages to escape if I were stuck in Danville; especially east of the freeway.
