Mt. Diablo Rescue Mobilized After Motorist Drives Off Summit Road Wednesday

MtDiablo

San Ramon Valley fire crews mobilized for a late-night rescue on Mt. Diablo after a driver phoned police to report Satan had instructed him to stab himself and drive off the roadway.

Fire and police reached the scene of the crash – near the summit of the mountain – on foot at approximately 11:35 p.m. Additional crews and apparatus were summoned to assist with locating the victim’s car and evacuating the reportedly injured man, a process hampered by darkness and topography. The nature of the victim’s injuries were not immediately known.

The victim had reportedly been camping on the mountain shortly before he called police at approximately 10:55 p.m.
