Fire in a unit of the Walnut Creek Motel 6 at 2389 N. Main Street brought firefighters on the run and occupants out into the cold early Sunday morning.
The fire was reported at 1:51 a.m., damaged one unit of the motel and affected others. Stunned occupants watched the two hour effort to control the blaze from the sidewalk outside, trying to keep warm as temperatures hovered in the 30s.
There were no immediate reports of injuries.
