A Danville man has been charged with misdemeanor vehicle manslaughter following the death of a local woman struck when the driver, identified as Steven Seltzer, 70, allegedly failed to yield to her as she was crossing the street.
The collision occurred the evening of Thursday, June 2, 2022, at the intersection of Camino Tassajara and Wood Ranch Road. Danville resident Joyce Huang, 32, was in a crosswalk at the time, according to investigators, and was declared deceased at the scene.
Steven Seltzer, 70, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, according to police.
An investigation by the Danville Police Department Traffic Unit determined the cause of the collision to be Seltzer’s failing to yield to Huang in the crosswalk.
The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office charged Seltzer on September 7. He is not in custody.
How do you charge this old man for reckless inattention? How do you not charge? Some things cannot be undone.
