Authorities are investigating the death of a worker believed run over and killed by a gravel truck at a construction site in unincorporated Walnut Creek Monday.
The deceased was identified Tuesday as 62-year-old Michael Taylor of Concord.
Rescuers were called to a site on Del Hombre Lane east of the Pleasant Hill BART station shortly after 10 a.m. in answer to a call of a “pedestrian” hit by a truck at the site. Taylor was located and found to be unresponsive. It could not be confirmed if he was declared deceased on site or at an area hospital.
It was believed Taylor was working as a flagman at the site.
The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District confirmed that crew responded to the scene Monday morning. The Division of Occupational Safety and Health – Cal/OSHA – said it was investigating.
