Highway Patrol Investigating Suspected Livermore Freeway Shooting Sunday

Livermore

California Highway Patrol officers were on the scene of a suspected freeway shooting on westbound I-580 past N. Livermore Avenue in Livermore Sunday.

Details remain sketchy but initial reports are that a suspected road rage incident on a crowded freeway erupted in car-to-car gunfire with a woman calling police to report that her husband had been shot.

Witnesses said the windows of a pick up truck appeared to have been shot out. There was no immediate word on the condition of the reported victim.

The freeway was closed for an hour at least as officers conducted their investigation into the incident, the responsible vehicle reportedly continuing west on I-580 after the gunfire.

No description of the suspect vehicle or the gunman(men) was available at press time.

CHP has a very short history in criminal investigations, up until =/- 10years ago, they would call in PD’s or Sheriff to handle. 108RS
