At approximately 6:35 p.m. Saturday, California Highway Patrol officers responded to reports of a freeway shooting on westbound SR-4, just east of Port Chicago Highway in Concord.
Upon arrival, officers found victims suffering from gunshot wounds inside a black Toyota Camry.
One victim succumbed to their injuries and another suffered moderate wounds. The unknown suspect vehicle fled the scene.
As a result of the shooting, the victim vehicle crashed into the metal guardrail at the top of the Port Chicago offramp. CHP has shut down all westbound lanes of HWY4 in the area for scene processing and collection of evidence. At this time we do not have an estimated time of re-opening the freeway but expect it to be closed for at least a few hours (10:39 p.m.)
We will provide updates as soon as we can.
This is an ongoing investigation with detectives assigned to CHP – Golden Gate Division Special Investigations Unit (SIU) who are actively investigating this shooting. Detectives are requesting public assistance in gathering details surrounding this incident. If you or anyone you know have any information that might be helpful, please call the CHP Investigative Tipline at 707-917-4491.
Ugh.
Concord has gone to shit!
Apparently we have some problems to work out.
Not again
Just spitballing on a Sunday but perhaps because it would take a small army to do the job thoroughly? Any LEOs care to take this one?
What is it with highway 4? Scarry!
Some say it’s the Oakland to Pittsburg /Antioch gang route.
No fear of law enforcement and less fear (if that’s possible) of the justice system.
All these crimanals get a slap on the hand and sent home. Something needs to change quick!!!
