A fiery one-car crash on Moraga Way near Glorietta closed the thoroughfare Thursday, the car touching off a grass fire that briefly threatened nearby homes.
Orinda Police Chief David Cooks said at approximately 1:51 p.m. local officers were dispatched to a report of a traffic collision in the area of Moraga Way and Monte Veda Drive.
It was reported a vehicle was off the roadway and had caught on fire. Officers responded along with MOFD fire crews, Cook said. When they arrived, they found the driver was out of the car and uninjured. Firefighters quickly extinguished the vehicle fire.
Moraga Way was closed between Brookside Road and Glorietta Boulevard until the incident was resolved and the vehicle removed from the culvert.
There were no reported injuries during the incident.
It’s good that no fire hydrants or traffic signals were taken out this time and sad to hear of the injuries, but how does this happen?? Distracted? Medical event?
