Contra Costa County Public Works will perform fire hazard removal work along Pinehurst Road, from the Alameda County Line to Skyline Boulevard, in Canyon.
The work will begin on Monday, May 17, 2021 and take through Friday, May 28, 2021, barring unforeseen circumstances. Work will occur between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, weather permitting. Traffic control will be in effect. Drivers should expect 15-20 minute delays due to this work and should consider alternative routes during this period.
This work will consist of removing all dead or dry vegetation, clearing the road edge vegetation back a minimum of 3’ and removing any overhead clearance issues of 14’ 6” or less to increase safety and reduce fire danger.
Clearing dead brush 3 feet from the roadway. Fortunately, that is where ALL of the dead fuel in the canyon is located…3 feet from the roadway :). If you were a capitalist and owned the property, would you be satisfied with that? If you were a socialist and owned the property, would you be satisfied with that? We shall chop the tip off of the matchstick. There is nothing else to be done. What could go wrong, asks a survivor of the 1991 Oakland Hills Firestorm…, namely me?
Oh, wait, there wasn’t just a single Oakland Hills firestorm was there?! Silly me. It’s a recurring thing here. Memories are short. People move. Homes have been built on the sunken spaces left by the 1906 EQ. Yes, liquefaction properties for sale. I’m not the only silly one. Memories are short. More people than I are silly. Gullibility, it seems, can best be measured in cryptocurrency and allegiance to dying pledges to clan immortality.
