Firefighters were summoned to a home at 14 Pimentel Court in Moraga Thursday after area residents heard what sounded like an “explosion” in the garage, that area of the home engulfed in flame moments later.
The fire was reported at approximately 10:30 a.m. One person, believed to be the homeowner, made it out with minor burn injuries and smoke inhalation.
Neighbors credited the swift action of a Moraga police officer – believed to be Officer Fabiola Hernandez – who was first on the scene and who they say warned the occupant of the impending danger.
Moraga-Orinda Fire Protection District crews (MOFD) are still on the scene (11:00 a.m.) and fighting a fire still burning inside the home.
