An 84-year-old Concord woman was found dead in her home Monday after neighbors reported adjacent landscaping on fire and a police officer arrived to find the home engulfed in flame.
The fire gutted the single story home in the 3500 block of Hillsborough Drive.
The neighbors reported the fire at around 6:30 a.m. after they noticed trees on fire in the yard. A police officer entered the burning residence in an attempt to locate the elderly homeowner, but she was later found on the floor of the residence and was later pronounced dead.
