A 33-year-old Pleasanton woman was killed in a fiery crash on San Pablo Dam Road outside of Orinda early Monday morning.
Contra Costa CHP offices were advised of a lone vehicle collision on San Pablo Dam Road, just north of Bear Creek Road, at about 12:20 a.m.
The victim was identified as Domenica Maurice of Pleasanton.
Arriving officers and fire crews determined that Maurice’s 2013 Kia Optima had left the roadway on the right side of San Pablo Dam Road, collided into and through the metal guardrail, and then down a steep embankment impacting into several trees.
Investigators said Maurice appeared to be unrestrained and was subsequently ejected from the Kia, according to the CHP. She was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency personnel. No other vehicles or parties were involved.
It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were a factor in this collision but it is still under investigation. If anyone witnessed this collision or the events leading up to it, please contact Contra Costa CHP in Martinez, (925) 646-4980.
Another fatal MVA…tragic
So many of these lately.
Again, another car going up in flames after a crashing! Wonder if there is some common defect in these automobiles.
Yes. They’re called gas tanks.
How awful.
