UPDATE: 2:05 p.m. – Fire contained at two acres. Crews will remain on scene for extensive mop up of this stubborn grass, debris and junk fire. Hwy 4 remains closed eastbound at this time.
Officials have closed down the eastbound lanes of Highway 4 in Pittsburg after a grass fire and possible gas main fire kicked up along the freeway shortly after 1 p.m. Thursday.
California Highway Patrol officers declared a SigAlert for the area at 1:19 p.m. as firefighting crews flooded into the area. There have been no reports of injuries.
