Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS) today released new community guidelines for reducing the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and protecting members of the community most at risk of serious illness.
CCHS is recommending that people who are higher risk from COVID-19, including adults over 50 and people with certain underlying medical conditions, should avoid mass gatherings, such as parades, sporting events or concerts.
CCHS will provide an update regarding three newly identified patients who have novel coronavirus and are in isolation at their homes later in the day. Two of the patients were passengers aboard the Grand Princess cruise ship and one is known to have had close contact with a COVID-19 patient in another jurisdiction.
I understand patient privacy and everything but wouldn’t it be helpful for people to know WHERE the confirmed cases were discovered?
50!?!? Last I read it was over 60? And what are the specific pre-existing health issues? Asthma? Heart Disease? COPD?
Yes – the scale seems to be sliding here. Hoping for the best, preparing for the worst.
The unconfirmed cases are everywhere around us including my house. Spouse was on that cruise and was notified 13 days after disembarkation by email that the ship had covid-19. Public health officials did not contact us. Outer Mongolia has more test kits. Unbelievable if not for this agonizingly great moment in American history. Shortness of breath, fever, dry cough are indicators. At greatest risk are those with heart, lung, kidney issues, diabetes, but especially lung issues, and especially the elderly infirm. It’s out of the barn now! The fact that the death toll is relatively low so far may indicate that younger, healthy individuals can handle it because it’s definitely here. Expect some big numbers when they start testing.
Exposed to virus on Grand Princess. Have symptoms. Living in Lamorinda. Circulated in various communities for 11 days before being notified by Princess of the outbreak on the 12th day. Still untested. Silence. Where are the test kits?
