From San Ramon PD:
On September 21, 2019 at 1112 hrs, officers were dispatched to the report of a suspicious circumstance on Broadmoor Dr at the Cross Valley Trail. A citizen saw a newer, light gray sedan quickly pull to the side of the road near a young female who was walking in the area. Once the vehicle left, the citizen asked the juvenile what happened and she told him the suspect told her to get in his vehicle. The citizen called the San Ramon Valley 911 Dispatch Center and stayed with the juvenile until officers arrived.
An officer arrived and spoke to the 13-year-old female, while others checked the area for the suspect vehicle. The female stated she was walking home from Pine Valley Middle School when the suspect vehicle pulled over. The driver was a 20-30-year-old male, unknown race, he had light brown skin, and curly brown hair. The suspect engaged the juvenile in conversation and then told her to get in the car. The juvenile quickly walked away from the vehicle and told her mother, whom she was speaking with on her cell phone.
Officers are searching for more witnesses or video surveillance that may have captured the suspect’s vehicle.
We encourage parents to take some time to talk to their children about safe practices while walking by themselves:
– Do not talk to strangers, even if they know your name.
– Always walk directly to and from your destination, letting your parents know your location.
– Always walk or ride your bike with friends.
– Run directly to school or home if you are approached by a stranger.
– Immediately notify a school official, parent, or 911.
