Police are investigating a morning accident involving a motorist and a female pedestrian struck and injured at Wood Ranch and Camino Tassajara Friday.
Chief Allan Shields said that at approximately 9:11 a.m. police responded to a report of a vehicle striking a Danville woman at that location.
The pedestrian was injured in the accident and was transported by San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District ambulance to John Muir Medical Center with major injuries. No information is available on the condition of the pedestrian, and no identity will be released pending notification of the family, police said.
The driver remained at the scene and was cooperative with police. Based on initial investigation, it appears the driver of the vehicle was making a left turn from Alta Vista Way onto eastbound Camino Tassajara when they struck the pedestrian, who was crossing in the northbound crosswalk of Wood Ranch Road and Camino Tassajara. (NOTE: at that intersection, the road on the north side is Wood Ranch Road, and on the south side it is Alta Vista Way).
Investigators have no indication that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision. The incident remains under investigation.

Witnessed this immediately after the victim was struck. Seeing this poor woman on the road was admittedly the worst trauma I’ve ever encountered. The woman who hit the pedestrian was extremely distraught, as were all witnesses who surrounded the victim to help to block traffic while the medics were being called. When leaving the scene, it did not look good for the victim but my prayers are with her and her family.
What more has to happen for people to take driving seriously? PAY MORE ATTENTION. This was an accident, yes. We are human and we get distracted. But enough of this in our hometown… Bikers, pedestrians, children. What is it going to take for people to take accountability? It is not my place to judge the driver, but this was 100% avoidable and it is not okay. Get off your phones, look at your surroundings, and keep one another safe. Otherwise, get off the damn road.

So sorry about this. We are all praying she is ok and heals quickly. Our family walks our neighborhood a lot and I am constantly looking up whenever I hear an angine revving or a car tire squealing. Prayers for her.
