The owner of this Subaru Forester bailed out of their vehicle this morning after it came to a rest in the Caldecott and caught fire.
Emergency crews raced to the scene, tended to the driver and put out the blaze at around 10:36 a.m. CHP Oakland along with Cal trans and firefighters from both sides of the tunnel responded.
No injuries thankfully but as we reported via The Flash as it was happening, traffic was definitely impacted.
Made it through as the firetrucks were coming in!!! Gld no one hurt!!
A subaru?
confined to the engine compartment?
I’ve done that but not in the Caldecott. Its a nightmare.
I was nursing my 81 Ford through the tunnel on a gridlock day when it started fuming and sputtering and I was certain it was going to explode with me in it but made it through to Gateway – where it died. That was an expensive year.
