Several Orindans noted some activity by their local police department along Orinda Way around 8:40 p.m. Monday and wrote to ask what was going on.
As it turned out, Lamorinda police turned out in force after officers located a car taken during an armed carjacking in Oakland earlier in the day parked along Orinda Way.
Police initiated a search for the suspect in the case and detained a man they found answering the general description at Orinda BART but discontinued their hunt after a police canine team tracked a possible suspect to Camino Pablo before the trail went cold.
Police theorize the suspected carjacker, a black male in his mid 20s with a facial tattoo, may have been picked up by an accomplice somewhere along the road.
The search was eventually called off as no further trace of the suspect was found.
Those Miramonte kids have always been bad news!
