From the CHP, Contra Costa Office:
MARTINEZ, CA – The Contra Costa Area office of the California Highway Patrol will be conducting a “Sobriety Checkpoint” on Friday, December 21, 2018, in an unincorporated area of Contra Costa County. This safety event will be conducted from 9:00 PM to 2:00 AM.

Traffic volume permitting, all vehicles will be checked, and drivers who are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs can expect to be arrested.

Remember that DUI doesn’t just mean booze.

The event is part of the “Reducing Alcohol Impaired Driving” grant. Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. In addition to this press release, we will use our CHP-Contra Costa Facebook and CHP-Contra Costa Twitter pages to provide messaging to encourage the use of occupant restraints, adherence to the speed limit, and sober driving.

  1. As someone who simply doesn’t drive under the influence of anything, I really wish these checkpoints were not publicized at all. Catch as many inebriated drivers as possible, I say!
