From Lieutenant Cary Goldberg, San Ramon PD:
This morning, students at Dougherty Valley High School reported to school administrators that another student was allegedly in possession of a knife on campus. School administration contacted the San Ramon Police Department and Officers initiated an investigation. The student in possession of the knife was contacted and subsequently arrested. During the investigation, the arresting officer found that in addition to the knife, the student was also in possession of muriatic acid, which when combined with other materials, can create an explosive detonation.
At this time, we are actively investigating the reason the student was in possession of this material, however; the student has been arrested. The fourteen-year-old freshman was booked into Juvenile Hall in Martinez, Ca. for violations of PC626.10 (a) (1) – Poss. of a Knife on School Grounds and PC19100 – Possession of Concealed Explosive Components.
At this time we believe that this incident has been contained and there is no additional threat to students or the school.
The San Ramon Police Department would like to commend the students who reported the suspicious activity, as well as the school administrators who immediately notified us. We cannot emphasize enough that, “If you see something or know something, say something.”
If you have any additional information about this investigation, please contact us at (925) 973-2779.
I get the part about the knife being bad but the acid??? I guess this is the new zero tolerance.
Picture of the knife?
Not good. Pretty tough on a 14yo. But they know not to bring this stuff to school right?
