Fire crews from the San Ramon and Contra Costa fire protection districts pounced on a grass fire brewing up near 8000 Morgan Territory Road Thursday, containing the blaze to about 20 acres burned.
Reports that a barn in the fire’s path was lost could not be immediately confirmed.
The fire was declared largely under control by 2:20 p.m., hours after it was first reported at noon. As with other local fires of late, crews had a difficult time accessing the scene of the fire due to its remote nature and roads unable to support heavy firefighting equipment.
A bulldozer brought in to help fight the fire slid off the roadway near the fire scene and had to be recovered hours later. There were no reported injuries.
