San Ramon police are investigating the death of a Walnut Creek man struck by a car while jogging along Crow Canyon Road at the Iron Horse Trail this morning.
Crow Canyon Road was closed in both directions shortly after the incident was reported at 6:49 a.m., with police relaxing closures as their investigation progressed into the morning.
Police said arriving officers located a man, later identified by county coroner’s officials as Allan King, Jr., 37, down with serious injuries at that location. Life-saving measures were conducted at that time and King was transported to San Ramon Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Police said the car that struck King was traveling east in the far right lane of Crow Canyon Road when it hit him. King appeared to be jogging southbound on the Iron Horse trail crossing Crow Canyon Road, according to police.
The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with the investigation and has voluntarily submitted to a blood test, police said. Drugs and/or alcohol do not appear to be a factor during the preliminary investigation. The investigation is currently underway and more information will be released when available. Any witnesses are encouraged to contact the San Ramon Police Department at 925-973-2700.
