Orinda PD Checking La Cresta Road After Mountain Lion Sighting

mountainlion

UPDATE: 6:45 p.m. – Police have suspended their search for this critter and a sheriff’s helicopter orbiting the area has moved along. So has the cat, apparently. Let’s hope.

ORIGINAL POST: Police are currently (6:17 p.m.) in the area of La Cresta Road in Orinda after a neighbor reported seeing a mountain lion in the area earlier this evening.

There were no indications the cat, if it is indeed a cat, was in distress or acting aggressively. Officers responded to the area out of an abundance of caution.

A Sheriff’s helicopter has been summoned to overfly the area and police are advising residents to keep small children and pets indoors for the time being.

Just leave them alone and they’ll move on.

I have been taking extra precautions. I only go for walks now when there are children or old people about.
