Danville Police are encouraging a potential witness in a Sunday incident at the Smart & Final parking lot to contact authorities.
Chief Allan Shields said investigators are looking to speak to a man who may have witnessed events leading up to the explosion of a small pipe bomb May 27, 2018, that caused minor damage to two vehicles.
The witness is described as a white male, approximately 5’10” – 6’0” tall, around 240 – 250 pounds, driving a white sedan. The vehicle could be a Jaguar X-type car.
Anyone with information on this incident is encouraged to contact Det. Sgt. Ron Hoekwater at (925) 314-3703 or rhoekwater@danville.ca.gov.
I’ll keep this in mind if I’m ever a witness. Smile pretty and do the Rose Bowl wave…
You have my attention.
Good grief. Now it’s pipe bombs. What next?
Probably best not to ask, Bonnie.
You know there are people out there who are perfectly comfortable with explosives right?
Why, yes, Doug – we do. (Nudging drowsy reporter to our left: “Did you know there are people out there who know how to make bombs?” Drowsy Scribbler: “Sure.”) We are aware, yes.
Do they think the bomb was set to damage those cars or did it go off accidentally?
No way for us to say, Nicky, as we didn’t get a look at the device. We’re sure the pros are looking at the detonator for some clue as to intent/builder.
