Neighborhood Feud Ends With Stabbing, Arrest In Blackhawk Wednesday Night

A feud between neighbors living on Conifer Terrace in Blackhawk escalated and ended violently Wednesday night, with deputy sheriff’s reporting one neighbor stabbed and a second in custody.

Sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Lee detailed much of the incident in a release issued by the department Friday, saying that a dispute between neighbors heightened until deputies were called to the 200 block of Conifer at about 11:18 p.m. Wednesday.

Responding deputies located a stabbing victim, a 47-year-old Blackhawk man, and after talking with parties in the area, found and arrested 69-year-old James Spence of Blackhawk.

Spence was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism charges with his bail set at $50,000. He has since made bail and been released, according to Lee. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment. His condition is not currently known.

Deputies say the stabbing appears to be the end-result of a dispute between both men with neighbors saying the vandalism charges stem from an apparent tire-slashing incident on the street.

Just because you have some money and can afford to put gates around your house doesn’t mean you aren’t batshit crazy.
