A 29-year-old nursing assistant at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek has been charged with sexual battery and burglary following an alleged attack on a patient at the hospital last October.
Cody Baca, of Clayton, turned himself in to police after a $105,000 warrant was issued for his arrest, according to a release issued by Walnut Creek police Thursday.
The Walnut Creek Police Department is asking that any member of the public that has information relevant to this case to please contact Detective G. Leonard at (925) 256-3523.
Police said their investigation commenced after a patient at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek reported being the victim of a sexual assault, with that investigation concluding Febr. 22, 2018, according to police.
When choosing a doctor, this confirms my reasoning for “female only.” Unfortunately, you can’t choose the gender of your nursing assistants. The last thing a patient should have to worry about is sexual assault. How many victims are still out there?
@Danielle – Remains to be seen, we’re afraid. Does create a potential crisis of faith in our caregivers, whom we trust in so much. We’ll see where this one goes.
Despicable if true.
If you can prove it throw the book at him and then add 10 years.
This is terrible. From the burglary I guess they are saying he entered her room and stole?
Innocent until proven guilty. I hope this woman knows the seriousness of her allegations before moving forward.
@Kristina – Always valid, Kristina, though we are aware that the DA’s office does carefully scrutinize individual cases before bringing them forward. But you are right, the allegations are yet to be proven.
People are only innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. I hope this defendant knows the seriousness of his crimes. Anyone who understands how the DA’s office works – oh, never mind. I hate when people defend those who deserve no defense. It’s pathetic. Having worked in hospitals for years, patients do NOT make up sexual assault while in the hospital. That’s the last thing on their mind.
