The body of a young woman discovered on the banks of a rain-swollen Fremont creek Thursday night has been identified as Jayda Jenkins – the 18-year-old Tracy woman whose car plunged into the creek during a rainstorm last month.
Jenkins’ body was found by a man walking his dogs in the Ardenwood area of Fremont, police said. The Alameda County Coroner’s Office confirmed her identity Friday morning.
Jenkins apparently lost control of her car after a collision with another vehicle on Niles Canyon Road January 21. Witnesses said her car went into the water during a heavy rain. It was found, overturned, three days later.
May her parents and family take some comfort in the fact that she was found and brought home again.
Such a tragedy.
My heart goes out to the parents and prayers for the young gal.
I’m sorry to bring this up and let it please be a reminder for all of us to drive safely, especially on these winding back roads, that are now commuter thoroughfares with frequent speeding. I think the initial report said she crossed over the line and hit another car before going into the flooded Creek. Such a shame.
Terrible tragedy. Praying for her family.
RIP
