Officers in Danville spotted a car listed as stolen at the Railroad Avenue parking lot in town Monday and attempted to contact two people as they returned to the car with unintended results, according to spokesman Geoff Gillette.
The incident kicked off at approximately 1:10 p.m. Monday as officers were alerted to a stolen Nissan Sentra via the Town’s Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) camera system. Officers located the vehicle parked at the Railroad Avenue parking lot. When two suspects returned to the vehicle, officers initiated contact, Gillette said.
But it was at this point that one of the pair, identified as John Fouhey, 35, of Martinez, fled the scene on foot and was apprehended after a brief foot chase. A second suspect, identified as Courtney Hall, 20, from Pleasant Hill, was taken into custody at the vehicle, which had been reported stolen from a location in unincorporated Walnut Creek, according to police.
Following his arrest, Fouhey suffered an unrelated medical issue and was transported to the San Ramon Regional Medical Center before being booked at the Martinez Detention Facility. Hall was transported and booked at the Martinez Detention Facility.
Fouhey was booked for possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property, possession of personal identifying information, resisting arrest and a parole hold. Hall was booked for possession of stolen property, possession of personal identifying information, possession of dangerous drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia and probation violation.
No officers were hurt during the brief incident.
Great job Danville PD!! Here’s hoping the news travels far and these idiots stop considering us easy marks.
Thank you Danville for the proactive stance of the License Plate Reader installation and thank you Danville Police for your good follow-up work!
I bet this duo were in town to do some shop (lift) ing .
PS: The interesting thing is it appears these people were already wanted on warrant of arrest for previous thefts. Isn’t California’s proposition 47 so wonderful how it is allowing all these thieves, who steal less than $95O, not to go to jail, but to be running around among us, under the guise of some sort of social justice . But I think the message will get out that you don’t return to this area to do your repeat crimes. Again hooray to Danville!
