A Lafayette resident who left her Leland Drive residence for a short time Tuesday returned to find that the home had been burglarized while she was gone.
Police were summoned to the 1000 block of Leland at 12:41 p.m. The resident reported they had arrived home approximately five minutes earlier and found the glass from their rear patio door broken. Officers searched the home and found no suspect(s) inside though the home had been extensively ransacked.
The resident was able to access data from a web camera, stored in a cloud-style storage service, and was able to provide two still images of the two burglary suspects within the home.
From this data, investigators learned the suspects entered the home at 11:06 a.m. and departed at 11:17 a.m., leaving with various items of electronics and jewelry from the home.
Investigators are asking all neighbors in the area to search their surveillance camera systems for any suspicious vehicles in the area between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Burglary suspects normally drive through a variety of neighborhoods prior to completing their crime. It is likely these suspects visited neighborhoods near the Leland Drive home.
Brazen burglar.
Who are using gloves and hoodies in the middle of the day with 80 or 90° temperatures? Anyone notice?
Ugh. How awful.
Horrible. Awful picture of lowlife criminals at work.
These pieces of sh*t are doing this daily. Keep your eyes open and call police right away when you see suspicious cars driving slowly through neighborhoods.
