A 58-year-old middle school mathematics teacher was arrested early Friday after police served a search warrant at his home in an unincorporated part of town. Mitchell Wolf, a teacher at Diablo Vista Middle School, is currently in custody on charges of possessing child pornography.
Danville police and deputies from the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office executed the search warrant early Friday morning after an investigation by the Silicon Valley Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) identified Wolf as a possible suspect. As a result of the investigation, Wolf was arrested and is currently being held on $1 million bail at the Main Detention Facility in Martinez.
UPDATE: Wolf was charged Thursday, Aug. 28 with aggravated child-pornography possession after more than 600 sexually explicit images of children were allegedly found in his possession.
None of the images were of local children, investigators said. For questions regarding this information, contact Detective Sergeant Jason Haynes at (925) 314-3700 or jhaynes@danville.ca.gov.
Wolf has taught math at Diablo Vista Middle School since 2002. School officials said at the time of his arrest that they are cooperating with authorities as they investigate.
