Walnut Creek, CA β€” Local planning commissioner, small business owner, and community leader Brendan Moran today announced his candidacy for Walnut Creek City Council in the November 3, 2026 election.

Moran is running on a platform centered on affordability, mobility, livability, and public safety β€” with a focus on protecting what makes Walnut Creek special while planning responsibly for the future.

“Walnut Creek is being shaped right now,” said Moran. “The decisions we make today about housing, traffic, public safety, and growth will determine what our city looks like for the next generation. I’m running to bring thoughtful leadership, transparency, and common sense to those decisions.”

Moran currently serves on the Walnut Creek Planning Commission, where he has worked on major housing, transportation, and development issues. He previously served on the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Commission and has been active in local nonprofit leadership and community organizations.

As a local small business owner and longtime East Bay resident, Moran says he understands both the opportunities and pressures facing the city.

“Our community wants balanced solutions,” Moran said. “We need more housing options so families and young professionals can afford to stay here. We need to address traffic and safety. And we need to maintain the quality of life that makes Walnut Creek such a great place to live.”

Moran emphasized that his campaign will prioritize listening to residents across neighborhoods and perspectives.

“This campaign isn’t about business as usual,” he added. “It’s about listening first. I want to hear what’s working, what’s not, and what ideas residents have to make our city stronger. The best solutions come from the community.”

The Walnut Creek City Council election will be held on November 3, 2026. Mail ballots are expected to be sent to voters in October.
