The area’s recent rainstorms turned long stretches of our local freeways into debris fields as cars spun out, overturned and, in one instance, ran into the back of a massive Moraga-Orinda Fire Protection District firetruck.
Crashes almost too numerous to cite were reported through Friday night into Saturday morning with frequent trouble spots emerging on Highway 24 at Wilder Road in Orinda, Highway 24 in Lafayette, and Interstate 680 in Walnut Creek.
Remarkably, no serious injuries have been reported as a result of the crashes though frequent closures have made travel difficult for motorists in the area.
