The San Ramon Police Department Investigations Division conducted a surveillance operation related to suspects believed to be connected to multiple vehicle burglaries and stolen vehicles in San Ramon and surrounding jurisdictions. Detectives had received information indicating the suspects were likely to return to the Kyler Court and Kyler Lane area in San Ramon, where a previously stolen vehicle had been abandoned.
At approximately 11:11 p.m., the suspects returned to the area in a black Volkswagen Jetta. Once detectives confirmed the occupants of the Volkswagen were involved, officers initiated a high-risk vehicle stop. The Volkswagen fled at a high rate of speed, striking multiple San Ramon Police Department Investigations vehicles and causing minor injury to one officer.
A vehicle pursuit was initiated. The Volkswagen lost control and collided with a fire hydrant in front of the Ivy Hill Way apartment complex. Four suspects exited the vehicle and fled on foot through the apartment complex. Following a foot pursuit, Anthony Parsons (Oakley, 24 years old) and Rafael Gonzalez (Antioch, 20 years old). Parsons was identified as the driver of the suspect vehicle.
A perimeter was established, and an extensive search was conducted for the remaining two suspects. Assistance was provided by the California Highway Patrol Air Unit, Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office K9 and UAS units, and the Dublin Police Department K9 unit. Despite a thorough search of two apartment complexes, the remaining suspects were not located.
The two apprehended suspects were transported and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility. Parsons was booked for PC 245(c), PC 148, PC 496, CVC 10851, PC 69, PC 182, PC 466, CVC 2800.2, and CVC 20002(a). Gonzalez was booked for CVC 10851, PC 496, PC 466, PC 182, and PC 148.
The injured officer was treated at a local hospital and later released.

I’m glad the officer sustained only minor injury and thank them all for their hard work. Hopefully the other two are found soon. The dead end court backing to only hills and trails is an odd place to dump a car, but I bet somebody is associated with one of those apartments somehow. I’m hearing a song by Toby Keith and Willie Nelson in my head right now. Glad the injuries to the officer were minor.
