A suspect wanted for allegedly assaulting someone with a firearm barricaded himself in his home in the 2600 block of Ward Way in Concord Sunday, resisting police commands to exit the residence before ultimately taking his own life inside the residence.
The unidentified individual first came to police attention at 10:44 a.m. Sunday, with someone reporting the assault at another location in the city.
The suspect reportedly returned to the Ward Way residence, which police quickly surrounded, resisting commands to exit issued by phone, text messages, and amplified announcements made from patrol vehicle loudspeaker systems.
Police forced entry into the residence shortly after 3pm and found the suspect deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The extent of injuries to the decedent’s alleged victim were not immediately known.
