Reports of an altercation at an apartment complex in the 100 block of Fig Tree Lane in Martinez on Tuesday brought police to the scene of an apparent stabbing with a woman down in the parking lot when police arrived.
Officers initiated lifesaving measures until the arrival of firefighters and the victim was transported to John Muir Walnut Creek where she was later reported deceased.
The victim was identified as Shaniyah Monae Kazee, age 19, with police arresting her mother Brittney
Evanna Kazee, age 36, for the crime. Both women are Martinez residents. The suspect is the mother of the
victim.
The altercation was reported at approximately 1:41 p.m. with officers arriving minutes later.
Brittney Kazee was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility on suspicion of murder. The reason for the altercation was not disclosed.
