A 45-year-old Oakland woman who approached Walnut Creek police in the initial stages of a gruesome double murder investigation acted on behalf of her suspect boyfriend, police say, in an effort to erase evidence – and later broke into the Kelobra Court crime scene to further remove evidence at the suspect’s direction.

Prosecutors filed two felony charges and one misdemeanor charge against Yan Wang of Oakland woman in connection with the September 18 murders of two women in Walnut Creek.

Yan Wang will be arraigned at 1:30 pm September 30 in Contra Costa Superior Court in Martinez. She faces two felony and one misdemeanor charge related to the murders of Linlin Guo and Beimin Cheng. The primary suspect in those murders, Howard Wang, was charged with the unlawful killing of both women on September 22. Howard Wang was married to Linlin Guo but was in a romantic relationship with Yan Wang at the time of the murders, according to prosecutors.

Howard Wang dialed police the night of the murders to report that an intruder dressed in black had assaulted and killed both women, stabbing them to death. Wang further stated that he had fired on the intruder as he left the home.

Police determined that while there was evidence of gunfire in the home there was nothing to suggest the presence of a mystery intruder. Howard Wang was arrested the day after the murders.

He is scheduled for arraignment on October 3 in Martinez and faces life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted. Yan Wang, who has no familial relation to Howard Wang, faces the following charges:

• PC 32 (Felony) – Accessory After the Fact: Yan Wang allegedly aided Howard Wang with knowledge following the murders and with intent to help him avoid arrest, trial, conviction, and punishment for killing his wife, Linlin Guo, and her mother, Beimin Cheng.

• PC 459 (Felony) – First Degree Residential Burglary: On or about September 19th, Yan Wang allegedly entered the residence owned by Howard Wang and Linlin Guo with intent to commit larceny.

• PC 135 (Misdemeanor) – Destroying Evidence: On September 18th, Yan Wang allegedly destroyed cellphones to prevent evidence from being produced.
